EditDocx

About EditDocx

A free browser editor for Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx). Files stay on your device — no account, no upload to EditDocx servers. This page is who ships it, what it is for, and what it is not.

What we build

EditDocx is for everyday edits when Word Online or Google Docs would force an account or cloud copy — memos, homework, rosters, and light review. It is not a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace replacement. Open the editor, drop a .docx or .xlsx, edit in the tab, download, and reopen the download before you send it.

What we do not build

Charts, SmartArt, OLE embedded objects, macros/VBA, pivot tables, spreadsheet images, and password-protected or encrypted Office files are out of scope. Complex publisher templates and print-production layout still belong in desktop Word or Excel. The fidelity article publishes what a public fixture actually does on a dated browser run.

Who we are

An independent team at editdocx.net. We ship the editor, write the English guides from product work (not a content mill), publish hashed-fixture round-trip notes, and answer support@editdocx.net. Word editing builds on open-source docx-editor; spreadsheets use additional client-side libraries in the same private workspace. There is no parent office suite selling this as a lead magnet.

Privacy

Document bytes are processed in your browser. Ads run on the marketing shell, not in the editor workspace. IndexedDB can keep up to 10 recent files (20MB each) on that browser profile until you clear site data. Full details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
